About

This four-week tutoring series will help you prepare for your upcoming SAT in Reading & Writing. By the end of the series, you will have completed multiple practice tests and worked through a number of problems from previous SATs, helping you build confidence for your upcoming exam. You'll spend each session with me and a small group of other learners who are also working towards taking the SAT. Since it's a small group, you can expect sessions to be very interactive as you work together towards improving your SAT skills as much as you can! Note: Cameras should be on so we can all get to know each other! If you have a specific reason why you can't have your camera on, please notify me ahead of time.

I’m a high school senior from Washington, DC and am interested in becoming a tutor at Schoolhouse. As an avid user of YouTube and Khan Academy for understanding or reviewing topics, solving problem sets and studying for standardized tests, I recognize the significant utility and impact having reachable help has on one’s learning as a student. I speak 3 languages fluently (English, Spanish and Italian) and have taken 5 AP classes (World History, US History, English Language and Composition, Chemistry and Physics 1), discounting this year’s (5). In addition, I have taken and succeeded in Honors-class-level Algebra 1 with geometry, Algebra 2 with trigonometry, Pre-Calc, Chemistry, Biology and Latin. Thus, I would be able to offer my help in those areas.

To get the most out of this series and respect other learners, follow these attendance rules:

You can only miss one unexcused session over the four weeks. Missing more can impact your learning and may take a spot from another learner who wants to join.

Need to miss a session? Let your tutor know by using the "Submit excused absence" button on the series page. Then, catch up by using the Session Makeup Guide or attending a live make-up session.

Multiple unexcused absences? If you reach two unexcused absences, you may be removed from the series and your Schoolhouse account may be suspended.

We’ll start with an orientation to get to know each other. Then, we will review Standard English Conventions and Grammar in the writing section. After, we will work through a shortened practice exam and review questions you’d like to go over.

We’ll begin by reviewing Expressions of Ideas on the writing sections. After, we will finish the practice exam from the first session and we will review any questions you have. We will wrap the session up with targeted writing practice.

We’ll take another practice exam (Writing and Language). We will then review the exam and  work through any questions you’d like to go over. We will end the session with a quick round of targeted writing practice.

We’ll start the session by reviewing strategies for a focus passage type (based on the results of the previous practice exams). Afterwards, we will begin the a reading practice exam and review any questions you have.

We’ll first finish the reading practice exam from the previous session. We will then answer any questions you have from the practice. To end off the session (and the bootcamp!), we’ll wrap up everything and provide some final words of advice/encouragement.
