Agenda: Global Health Security: Preparedness for Future Pandemics Developing comprehensive strategies for global health security, including early warning systems, rapid response mechanisms, and international collaboration to prevent and mitigate future pandemics. Chairs: Anastasia M and Aarav T Overview of the Committee’s Agenda: Recently, the world has witnessed the significantly devastating impact of global health crises, as pandemics can negatively affect healthcare systems, destroy economies, and cause millions of deaths. There is a significant need for global health security. Countries worldwide face unique and shared challenges in pandemic preparedness. Our committee will focus on strengthening global health security to prepare for future pandemics. Schoolhouse Fall MUN 2024 - DISEC

    Starts

Welcome to the DISEC Committee sessions for the Schoolhouse Fall Model United Nations 2024! Schoolhouse MUN is an online Model United Nations event organized by a team of volunteers from schoolhouse.world. Delegates will have the opportunity to represent different countries in six distinct committees of the United Nations. This experience will enhance their understanding of current world issues and improve their public speaking, collaboration, and leadership skills. Agenda: Reducing the Threat of Biological and Chemical WeaponsStrengthening international frameworks to prevent the proliferation and use of biological and chemical weapons. Chairs: Aritro G and Sneha M Overview of the Committee's Agenda: As of 2024, 193 states are party to the Chemical Weapons Convention, yet the threat persists. Since 2020, over 99% of declared chemical weapon stockpiles worldwide have been verifiably destroyed – but new threats emerge. In recent years, investigations have confirmed multiple chemical weapons attacks, including the use of Novichok agents in high-profile assassination attempts. The OPCW has verified the destruction of 72,118 metric tonnes of chemical agents, representing a staggering 98.7% of declared stockpiles. Meanwhile, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the catastrophic potential of biological threats, with experts warning that a weaponized pathogen could be even more devastating. The WHO reports that over 59 BSL-4 laboratories (the highest biosafety level) now operate globally, double the number from a decade ago. Each facility, while crucial for legitimate research, also represents a potential security concern. Recent advances in synthetic biology and gene editing have made it possible to modify pathogens in ways that were unimaginable just years ago. As delegates in DISEC, you face an evolving challenge: how do we maintain crucial scientific research while preventing its weaponization? With non-state actors showing increasing interest in CBRN(Chemical, biological, radiological and/or nuclear) capabilities, and new delivery systems becoming more sophisticated, your role is more critical than ever. Through robust debate and collaborative problem-solving, you must forge new paths in international security to ensure these devastating weapons remain firmly in the past. Main Series: https://schoolhouse.world/series/28597 Please note that each delegate must attend a minimum of three committee sessions to be eligible for a participation certificate. You are also welcome to join as an audience member! We look forward to your participation!

Schoolhouse Fall MUN 2024 - UNSC Committee

    Starts

Welcome to the United Nations Security Council Committee sessions for the Schoolhouse Fall Model United Nations 2024! Schoolhouse MUN is an online Model United Nations event organized by a team of volunteers from schoolhouse.world. Delegates will have the opportunity to represent different countries in five distinct committees of the United Nations. This experience will enhance their understanding of current world issues and improve their public speaking, collaboration, and leadership skills. Agenda: Addressing the Crisis in Afghanistan: Security and Humanitarian Solutions Developing comprehensive strategies for stabilizing Afghanistan and addressing the humanitarian crisis. Chairs: Sarah W & Rivi K Overview of the Committee’s Agenda: A deeply scarred nation now faces an unfolding humanitarian disaster threatening millions of lives. At this very moment, over half of the population of Afghanistan, around 23.7 million Afghans, is in dire need of humanitarian assistance and protection. With Afghanistan’s infrastructure fragile and security stretched thin, every decision is urgent. Worse, at a time when it is more necessary than ever, international aid is diminishing, further escalating the crisis for civilians who depend on it for survival. Can the global community stabilize Afghanistan without jeopardizing regional security? Can humanitarian efforts be scaled without fueling extremism? With a primary goal of both maintaining and restoring international peace and security, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) was formed to address crises such as this. Delegates, as members of the UNSC, you are tasked with balancing immediate aid initiatives with long-term stability. Will your solutions help restore hope, or will the country spiral further into uncertainty? For more than four decades, Afghans have continued to face displacement, unable to return to their homes due to the continuous conflict that their country has faced. Through collaboration and problem-solving, you have the power to help bring peace to this nation that has suffered for far too long. Are you ready to redefine the world’s role in Afghanistan? Main Series: [https://schoolhouse.world/series/28597](https://schoolhouse.world/series/28597) Please note that each delegate must attend a minimum of three committee sessions to be eligible for a participation certificate. Schoolhouse Fall MUN 2024 - INTERPOL Committee

    Starts

Welcome to the INTERPOL Committee sessions of the Schoolhouse Fall Model United Nations 2024! Agenda: Countering Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery Developing international strategies to combat human trafficking networks and provide support to victims. Chairs: Anshu P and Luca G Overview of the Committee’s Agenda: In 2017 alone, an estimated 40.3 million people fell victim to modern slavery—an alarming reality that many are unaware of. Smugglers prey on those yearning for a better life, manipulating their dreams and snatching away their freedom in the process. Today, an unimaginable number of children have been reduced to commodities. In certain areas of Africa and the Mekong region, children make up half of all trafficking victims. In West Africa, that figure soars to a staggering 100%. These lucrative crimes thrive on the vulnerability of the most susceptible, benefiting the cruelest among us. The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) was established to address similar transnational issues. While INTERPOL is not a law enforcement agency itself, it plays an essential role in facilitating global police cooperation and supporting law enforcement to combat human trafficking and modern slavery. As delegates, it is your responsibility to explore how, why, when, and to what extent INTERPOL can and must act. Engage in vigorous discussions, challenge each other's perspectives, and ask those hard-hitting questions. Through assertive diplomacy and united action, you have the power to confront one of our world’s most pressing and heart-wrenching issues. Are you ready to rise to this pivotal challenge? Main Series: [https://schoolhouse.world/series/28597](https://schoolhouse.world/series/28597) Please note that each delegate must attend a minimum of three committee sessions to be eligible for a participation certificate. Schoolhouse Fall MUN 2024 - SOCHUM Committee

    Starts

Welcome to the SOCHUM Committee sessions of the Schoolhouse Fall Model United Nations 2024! Agenda: The Global Refugee Crisis: Ensuring Protection and Integration Crafting strategies for safeguarding refugees and enhancing their integration into host communities. Chairs: Aadya S and Jil S Overview of the Committee’s Agenda: Today, over 100 million people have been displaced worldwide, fleeing persecution, conflict, and natural disasters. For many, the struggle to escape is only the beginning of their journey. Refugees face daunting challenges at every step—an endless quest for safety, stability, and a place to call home. In regions like the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa, entire generations are growing up far from their homelands, awaiting a future that remains uncertain. This humanitarian crisis persists, highlighting both the strength of the human spirit and the gaps in global support systems. As delegates of SOCHUM, your task is to delve into how international frameworks can better protect refugees and ensure that integration efforts are both compassionate and sustainable. You’ll be asked to consider the root causes, the ethical responsibilities of host nations, and how to create solutions that are both just and practical. Engage in rigorous debates, challenge each other’s ideas, and remember that real change begins with dialogue. Together, let’s take a stand for those whose voices too often go unheard. Are you prepared to take on this humanitarian mission? Main Series: https://schoolhouse.world/series/28597 Please note that delegates must attend a minimum of three committee sessions to be eligible for a participation certificate. School and Schoolhouse.world - Q&A on Autodidactism and Study Tips

    66th session

*New sessions added on request* Welcome to School and Schoolhouse.world, a Q&A on the art of learning I've been running for almost a year now! All you need is a Schoolhouse account. Don't have one? Sign Up for free: https://schoolhouse.world/api/auth/signup?ref=u-3rvjjcld4t This series began with study skills: Is notetaking useless? How should you study for exams? Can you ever truly focus on your work? Does listening to music while working help? And can you find time to do things that matter? But it has evolved into an Ask (Almost) Anything on self-directed learning, graduate school applications, studying various humanities disciplines, etc. In some ways, it mirrors my own journey as an autodidact in college and now graduate school. Most sessions are short enough to fit into your daily schedule, and I'll ensure that each of you gets to ask at least one question, and clarify your concerns about studying. So get your questions ready: Ask yourself what you want to ask! It's your questions that drive each session, so please participate either via the mic or chat box. I'm super-excited to help you learn better inside or outside the classroom. See you in a session! :)
