Biology Series

Hi, my name is Haritha and I'm a current junior in high school! I self-studied for the USABO and was a Merit Awardee (top 30% of high schoolers nationwide).
Genetics is one of the most difficult topics in bio, but, once you understand the basics, you'll be able to solve any genetics problem your teacher gives you! This session, we'll be reviewing different inheritance types and how to solve the most common problems, including how to use a Punnet square as efficiently as possible. I highly recommend bringing a piece of paper, a writing utensil, and a scientific calculator to the session as we'll be working through problems that require written calculations. I can't wait to meet everyone :)

Hi there! This series is going to be all about one of my favorite topics (and current major), microbiology! Each session, we'll be doing a deep dive into a new microorganism and it's biology: what kind of microorganism it is, where it exists, its role in its habitat, and even how it interacts with us.
These are just meant to be fun, exploratory sessions, not a series on general microbiology, so no past knowledge is really needed. I can answer any general biology questions if they come up (in context with the microorganism, of course), but the main focus will be on whatever microscopic creature we're exploring during a given session!
If you like microbiology, learning about new species, or just learning about the things we don't get to see much in our everyday lives, then this series is for you!
Hope to see you there!
(Note also that this is a re-run of a series I've done a couple times now, so if this looks familiar to you, you may have seen it before.)

We will be going over the course content of your AP Biology class! I got a 5 on my AP Biology Exam, and now, I'm ready to help you all do the exact same! I have my lesson plan ready to cover all eight units of AP Bio in these sessions, and they should be really helpful in your school tests and your AP Exam! You don't need prior knowledge from other classes, so all you need to do is to come prepared with questions, and supplies like a pencil and paper (or a tablet and pen for the digital notetakers!). Let's get that 5!

Biology Course 🌱🧬
13th session
Welcome! In this series, we will go over all the units in Khan Academy's High School Biology Course (NOT AP/IB). I will go over content in each session, and we will do Khan Academy practice problems. I intend on making sessions interactive and engaging. I hope to be able to help you learn about biology! :)🧪🔬
❗🕕 Sessions are planned to be on Saturdays at 6pm EST. There is no set end date yet. Sessions will be added as time goes on.
🐢Sessions are pretty slow-paced. The sessions are slow paced because I want to make sure each learner knows the content well. 💡
The units we will go over include:
1. Ecology and natural systems
2. From cells to organisms
3. The cell cycle and differentiation
4. Energy and matter in biological systems
5. Gene expression and regulation
6. Inheritance and variation of traits
7. Mechanisms of evolution
8. Common ancestry and phylogeny
There is unit 9 as well but I won't be going over that in my series.

Each session will focus on 1–2 chapters/concepts, with practice questions and discussion to strengthen understanding.
This series is great if you:
- Want structured preparation for the Biology Olympiad.
- Enjoy learning advanced biology topics beyond the classroom.
- Like reviewing with examples, problem-solving, and explanations.
We’ll go step by step through the material and build a strong foundation for competition success. No prior Olympiad experience required—just curiosity and dedication!
Note: This series will be lasting into January to cover as much material before the Open Exam.
