**IMPORTANT - Please have or make a Chess.com account prior to the session** This series is highly adaptive to wherever you are at. It's pretty informal and could be considered more of a club than a class. The session will open with a short activity/warmup, which may be something like a puzzle to solve. Depending on everyone's abilities, the session may cover simpler topics, such as how to play, how to checkmate, or opening principles. If those who join know the basics of chess, we can pair each of the attendees against each other and then do an in-depth analysis of the games afterwards. I am definitely open to any suggestions, so feel free to make them!

Hey everyone, I'm Nolan! I'm a high school junior who likes to swim🏊‍♂️, play chess♟️ (I'm around 1600 online), and solve Rubik's cubes (I used to be top 3 in the state🥉). I am currently taking AP Calculus BC and I tutor math at my job with Mathnasium. I scored 770 math and 750 English first try on the SAT and got a 1510/1520 on the PSAT. The more time I spend helping people with their school, the more I love doing it. The sessions do not build off of each other, so feel free to attend the ones you can make. If you miss 2-3 weeks in a row without warning, I may have to remove you from the series to open up spaces for other people who may want to join.

This series is highly adaptive to wherever you are at. The session will open with introductions and a short activity/warmup ~10 minutes. Depending on everyone's abilities, the session may cover simpler topics, such as how to play, how to checkmate, or opening principles. If those who join know the basics of chess, we can pair each of the attendees against each other (or against random online players) ~20 minutes. There will then be an open discussion/in-depth analysis of each of the games afterwards ~25 minutes. Closing, questions, comments, suggestions ~5 minutes.
