About

Hi everyone! In this series, we're going to be having a review session for every unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy, which will come out to be 10 review sessions with a few optional office hour sessions in between. Because these are structured as review sessions, the material covered won't be extremely in-depth. It's recommended that you have previous knowledge or experience in any form of calculus; however, this series is also great for students who plan on taking Calculus and want to be briefly introduced to the main concepts or grasp how challenging calculus will be. We'll tackle the entire course and have a good time while we're at it; after all, it's summer and we should have some fun.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Understanding that people have other obligations during the summer, there won't be a strict attendance policy. However, please sign up for this series with the intention of attending every review session. If you won't make it, please let me know so I can adjust accordingly. Office hour sessions will be optional for students to attend but are highly recommended as a way of reinforcing what we go over in our review sessions.

Session 1

Orientation

Nice to meet you! In this session, we'll have a brief orientation where we will spend some time getting to know each other. I'll also be explaining the general structure of each review session, how office hour sessions will work, and answering any questions you guys have. Please try to make this session to introduce yourself!

Session 2

Review

Welcome to Review Session 1! In this session, we'll be reviewing the first unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Limits and Continuity." The main topics we'll be reviewing are the definition and notation of limits, exploring continuity and the different types of continuity, and the Intermediate Value Theorem. This is the beginning of our journey: let's go!

Session 3

Review

Welcome to Review Session 2! In this session, we'll be reviewing the second unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Differentiation: Definition and Derivative Rules." The main topics we'll be reviewing are the many derivative rules and the derivatives of different trigonometric identities. Derivatives are essential to calculus, so let's knock this one out of the park!

Session 4

Review

Welcome to Review Session 3! In this session, we'll be reviewing the third unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Differentiation: Composite, Implicit, and Inverse Functions." The main topics we'll be reviewing are the chain rule, implicit differentiation, and finding the derivatives of inverse functions. Make sure you attend this session, because more derivatives = more fun!

Session 5

Office Hours

Welcome to our first office hours! This office hours session will be dedicated to questions students have about any of the topics covered from Reviews 1-3. These office hour sessions are intended to be short and concise, so make sure you come with questions/problems prepared in-advance!

Session 6

Review

Welcome to Review Session 4! In this session, we'll be reviewing the fourth unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Contextual Applications of Differentiation." The main topics we'll be reviewing are the different applications of derivatives and L'Hopital's Rule. After this review session, you'll become a master at using derivatives; at the very least, you'll learn how to properly pronounce L'Hopital.

Session 7

Review

Welcome to Review Session 5! In this session, we'll be reviewing the fifth unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Applying Derivatives to Analyze Functions." The main topics we'll be reviewing are the Mean Value Theorem, identifying extrema on graphs, and concavity. And yes, concavity is a math term, not the things dentists scold you for having (please don't eat too much candy!).

Session 8

Review

Welcome to Review Session 6! In this session, we'll be reviewing the sixth unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Integration and Accumulation of Change." The main topics we'll be reviewing are Riemann Sums, the fundamental theorem of calculus, and definite integrals. Integrals are equally as essential to calculus as derivatives were: try not to miss this one!

Session 9

Office Hours

Welcome to our second office hours! This office hours session will be dedicated to questions students have about any of the topics covered from Reviews 4-6. These office hour sessions are intended to be short and concise, so make sure you come with questions/problems prepared in-advance!

Session 10

Review

Welcome to Review Session 7! In this session, we'll be reviewing the seventh unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Differential Equations." The main topics we'll be reviewing are how to solve differential equations, slope fields, and exploring different strategies like Euler's method. Fun fact: Euler is actually kind of difficult to pronounce correctly.

Session 11

Review

Welcome to Review Session 8! In this session, we'll be reviewing the eighth unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Applications of Integration." The main topics we'll be reviewing are how to solve all the area-under-the-curve problems and finding the volumes of objects. Trying to visualize some of this stuff is a bit mind-blowing (at least it was for me), so you won't want to miss it!

Session 12

Review

The home stretch! Welcome to Review Session 9! In this session, we'll be reviewing the ninth unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Parametric Equations, Polar Coordinates and Vector-Valued Functions." The main topics we'll be reviewing are how to find the derivatives of parametric equations, finding the length of curves, and solving motion problems. This is calculus in motion, but I hope you are sitting comfortably in your chair during this session rather than speeding at 60 MPH.

Session 13

The grand finale! Welcome to Review Session 10! In this session, we'll be reviewing the final unit of AP BC Calculus on Khan Academy: "Infinite Sequences and Series." The main topics we'll be reviewing are the different types of series, convergence tests, finding error bounds, and exploring Taylor and Maclaurin series. This is one of the tougher units in Calculus; who knew counting was so hard?

Office Hours

This is where we say goodbye. This will be our final office hours session as well as our final meeting together. This office hours will be dedicated primarily to any topics covered from Reviews 7-10, but questions from other topics will also be taken. We'll also spend our last time together reflecting and celebrating the journey we went on. Congratulations on completing your review series!
