The aim of this series is to analyze Capitalist and Socialist Theory from an objective point of view. We will read Adam Smith and Karl Marx, among many, many more. We will read their critics, discuss the ideas we read in our sessions, and (optionally) write essays analyzing, comparing, and contrasting their ideas.
This series is just the first part--on Capitalism.

Tutor Qualifications
I have read a few books on capitalism and socialism, though I hope this series will vastly expand my knowledge.
✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY
Please do not miss any sessions, since we will have a strict timeline for reading each book. However, attendance is optional and we will be summarizing and discussing each week's reading (for those who couldn't read themselves).

A little about me: I'm about the biggest Indie fan there is, I almost exclusively watch (John Hughes>>) 80s movies or the upcoming Star Wars series, and I read sci-fi in my spare time. I tutor for the sake of those aha moments, and have taken Multivariable Calc, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, and Complex Analysis. Who knows what I'll tutor next, hope to see you soon.

Guiding Question: What is capitalism? How does it work? What was Adam Smith's vision of Capitalism, and why did he write The Wealth of Nations?
Today we're going to start with a discussion and analysis of Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations, having had over a week to read the book. We will discuss each chapter, central ideas and quotes, connect it to modern-day capitalism and how our world works. We will share our ideas and give our opinion on whether we agree with Smith.

Today we're going to start our discussion on "The Conditions of The Working Class in England" by Fredreich Engels, having read the introduction to chapter eight (pg. 15-248). As always, we'll discuss the main ideas of each chapters, the importance of the work, and compare the conditions of working class people during the Industrial Revolution to those presently.

Today we're going to finish our discussion on "The Conditions of The Working Class in England" by Fredreich Engels, having finished the book. After that, we'll start discussing "Hard Times," by Charles Dickens, having read chapters 1-6. Since this is a piece of literature, not philosophy, we'll be analyzing the different elements of the story, as well as the literary devices used in order to bring out Dicken's criticisms.
