About

As time allows, there are 12 sessions. Each session goes over different marine organisms. I made Kahoot's for every session so that we can be more interactive with each other and I'm always available for questions! This is a fun way to learn more about marine life! You'll also learn more fun facts about these animals that you didn't know before:)

Tutor Qualifications

I took this class in my junior year and now I'm a rising senior in high school. I am going towards the path of marine biology into college and wanted to talk more about why I like it and to share the different organisms in the ocean and why they are important.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Let me know if you can't make it to the sessions. You will NOT be removed from the session if you can't make it to all of them:) I just hope to spread my knowledge of marine biology!

About the Tutor

Hi! I am Grace and I am a high school senior in California. I speak, read, and write fluent Chinese/Mandarin (both traditional and simplified) as well as English ofc! I came to Schoolhouse to help enhance my math skills and I wish to pursue Marine Biology and spread it out too as the world is getting worse because of climate change, global warming and pollution. In my spare time, I love playing chess, ice skating, roller skating, playing basketball, cooking/baking, volleyball, tennis, swimming and I recently got SCUBA certified so I like swimming with the marine life in the oceans:) Music wise, my main instrument is the violin (7 years) but I've also played clarinet (2 years), viola (1 year), piano (3 years), harp (2 years), acoustic guitar (4 years), cello (2 years), and the electric guitar (2 months). I'm also a singer and will start hosting a few singing sessions now and then! Word of advice, I'm very friendly! If you need any help from math to Chinese to biology, let me know! I tend to be super altruistic so I'm happy to help out in any way!

Today is the 1st session and we'll be covering an "Intro to Animalia" with a Kahoot Game at the end! It will be one of the shorter sessions but we'll mainly be focusing about the characteristics of marine organisms!

Today is the 2nd session and we'll be covering "Sponges" with a Kahoot game at the end! We'll be focusing on different types of marine sponges, how they work and how they are used in our daily lives.

Today is the 3rd session and we'll be covering "Cnidaria and Ctenophores" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today, we'll be exploring of different types of marine jellies like jellyfish, sea anemones, etc.

Today is the 4th session and we'll be covering "Arthropoda" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today we'll be learning about crabs, lobsters, barnacles, etc.

Today is the 5th session and we'll be covering "Echinoderms" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today we'll be discussing of organisms such as starfish, brittle stars, sea cucumbers, etc.

Today is the 6th session and we'll be covering "Chondrichthyes" with a Kahoot game at the end! DUN DUN DUNNNNN. For any jaws fans or the meg fans, we are learning about sharks today!!! This is one of my favorite sessions out of this entire series because we will talk about sharks and to be honest, they're not as scary as they are shown in the movies.

Today is the 7th session and we'll be covering "Osteichthyes" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today, we will be centering on different types of fish. (two specifically).

Today is the 8th session and we'll be covering "Mollusca" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today, we'll be focusing on 7 classes. 4 being the most important and 3 that are good to know of but not to the utmost of importance.

Today is the 9th session and we'll be covering "Marine Evolution" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today is all about whales and it's ancestors. Let's go back to the time of the dinosaurs and learn more about how whales evolved over time!

Today is the 10th session and we'll be covering "Marine Reptiles" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today, we'll be going over an introduction to sea turtles (different classes), saltwater crocodiles, sea snakes, and marine iguanas! Yayyyy! Turtlessss [sksksks] (brings back the VSCO trend) #SAVE THE TURTLES!

Today is the 11th session and we'll be covering "Marine Birds" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today is all about marine birds. It will be one of the shorter sessions but we'll mainly be focusing about the ones you see at the beach like sea gulls and pelicans.

Today is the 12th session and we'll be covering "Marine Mammals" with a Kahoot game at the end! Today is the last session as we are wrapping up the rest of the marine mammals. Don't worry, today we'll be talking about seals, sea lions, manatees, dolphins, etc. All the good ones we haven't gotten to yet! I hope this series increased your knowledge in marine life!
