About

We will learn how to speak Cantonese together! We will start from the absolute basics so we will go over basic grammar structures and vocabulary! From time to time, I may also host some sessions where we watch some Cantonese movies or YouTube videos together! I plan on hosting sessions every weekend (PDT Timezone)

Hey! Nice to meet you, my name is Carla! My first language was Cantonese and my current goal is to spread the language and culture. I have tutored for roughly over a year now. I am also currently working on a website that teaches Cantonese to English speakers at the moment!

Session 1

Enrichment

During our first session, we will introduce ourselves and learn a little bit about each other! I will go over the basic SVO grammar structure, numbers, measure words, basic vocab words, and some basic measure words! I will introduce the Jyutping system and teach you how to understand how Jyutping can help you as a learner. I will also show you how you can practice speaking and making sure that you are precisely pronouncing the words correctly. By the end of the session, we will be able to introduce ourselves, express what we want and how many we want! I will also suggest some resources to use in order to further learn Cantonese outside of this series.

Session 2

Enrichment

During our first session, we learned how to order dim sum and how to use the SVO structure. Using this knowledge, we are going to learn how to describe the dim sum. These adjectives also apply to other foods. We will also go over all the vocab and phrases you need to know in order to follow a Cantonese cooking tutorial.
