About

This is a debating series, and every day there will be a different and unique topic. 6 learners are selected every session, 3 in affirmative and 3 in negative, to debate their stance on the topic (note: you don't get to choose which side you want to debate for).

As being part of the larger upcoming World Scholar's Cup (WSC) preparation series, this debating series would follow the WSC debating format, with 15 minutes of individual topic researching followed with a speaking time of 4 minutes (communication with teammates through Zoom text, both before and during the debate, is allowed). There is a 1-minute preparation time between each speaker. After the debate concludes, this rubric would be used to gauge the rating of each speaker, with improvement suggestions, if applicable.

Learners who were not selected to debate in a session are still welcome to stay and observe the debaters and can also give feedback after the debate. The sign-up limit is set to be higher than 6 due to the fact that not every learner might be available in all sessions.

IMPORTANT: Because this is a debating series where voice communication is important, please prepare and ensure that your voice, computer speaker, and internet are good prior to the session (video is optional). We would have to assign you a spectator role if we selected you and you cannot respond using voice as debating cannot be conducted effectively through text.

If you wish to be a co-host for the upcoming Schoolhouse.world WSC team, please send a co-host request through this series and DM Yoon Ha H after completing this form. If the form doesn't work or has issues, please complete the PDF version (in Schoolhouse.world Tutors Slack) by annotating with your responses and sending the completed PDF. Thank you in advance!
