About

Welcome to Dialogues! In this session, we will be discussing Political Violence and Polarization and using this discussion guide.

Here’s some helpful information to help you prepare for your session:

📌 Session introduction: At the start of the session, the event host will provide some introductory remarks about how the session will work and tips for discussion.

🧩 Discussion partner matching: All participants will be matched with a conversation partner to discuss with. If there are uneven numbers, you may have two conversation partners.

🤝 Breakout discussions: After the session introduction, everyone will switch to their breakout discussion. Your discussion will be unmoderated, so you can start when your partner arrives in the new Zoom link.

🗺️ Discussion Guide: You will have a topic-specific discussion guide for the session to help guide conversation.

Session length: The breakout discussions are scheduled for 45 minutes but you can discuss as long as you want!

Stay on topic: Please make sure to stay on topic. If you and your partner run out of things to discuss, it’s okay to end the discussion early. You will not be returning to the main group when your conversation is over.

🤔 Make the discussion your own: You probably won’t have time to answer all the guide questions so pick and choose! Feel free to also bring in your own questions and ideas outside of the guide.

📝 Survey: A mandatory survey will appear at the end of your session to fill out. This must be filled out for you to get credit for the session in your Dialogues portfolio.

🤸‍♂️ Have fun: There is no preparation needed for this event. These conversations are meant to be casual, in addition to being meaningful. We hope you enjoy it!

Hey there!👋 I'm a highschooler who's passionate in dance, art, music, and anything humanities! 🎨🩰🎵 I came to Schoolhouse to tutor students for the SAT, (both R&W and Math!) but I also tutor in AP HUG, AP World, Biology, Economics, Pre-Algebra, and Enrichment! 🫧🌧️ (I'm also a Dialogue Club Presidents and am currently in the process of becoming a R&W tutor!) As a learner, I'm currently using Schoolhouse to study for my upcoming AP classes, make new friends, and learn as much as I can from the wonderful people on this platform 🌟🎈🎨 Other facts about me is that I love to play badminton and crochet/knit, can speak Chinese fluently, and am a violinist! I'm online a lot so feel free to ask me any questions! 🗨️💫🌟
