About

We will learn how the nervous system produces behavior, how we use our brain every day, and how neuroscience can explain the common problems afflicting people today. We will study functional human neuroanatomy and neuronal communication, and then use this information to understand how we perceive the outside world, move our bodies voluntarily, stay alive, and play well with others.

About the Tutor

I am a high school student and I love to learn new things. I want to work as tutor to teach biology and help others in their studies. And I also take courses online on computational neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience and in my spare time I also love to paint and draw.

Session 1

Orientation

Hi in this session we will introduce ourselves and I will also share a very basic quiz related to neuroscience with all of you.

Session 2

Other Topics

In this session we will learn: The Nervous System Neurobiology is a rapidly growing area of scientific research, and is becoming increasingly prevalent in the news and popular culture. In this course, we will study of the nervous system from a biological perspective by exploring the fundamental concepts in neurobiology, including how we sense the world, how we act in the world, and common neurological disorder 1) The Four Functions 2) Central Anatomy 3 )Meet the star: Neurons 4) Parts of Neuron 5) Glial Cells 6) Myelin 7) Demyelinating diseases 8) Meninges 9) Peripheral Diseases 10) Brain Tumors 11) The Brain and the Spinal Cord 12) Brain Tumors

Session 3

Other Topics

In this session we will learn: Neural Communication + Embodied Emotion Neurons are the cells of the nervous system responsible for communicating, relaying, and integrating information. Neurons "talk" to other neurons through a special type of language that involves electrical signaling within individual neurons, and the use of chemical compounds known as neurotransmitters to communicate between neurons. In this module, you will learn more about how a neuron functions at rest, how information is relayed within a neuron, and how neurons relay information to other neurons or target tissues. you will be learning about how the body and emotions work together to produce our everyday emotional experiences. We will look at the enteric nervous system and learn how to discern whether the sympathetic or parasympathetic system is impacting our current emotional state. 1) Action Potential 2) Neurotransmitter Release 3) Signal Termination 4) Receptors7m 5) Wrap-Up: Neurocommunication 6) Parasympathetic & Sympathetic 7) Parasympathetic/Sympathetic Balance 8) Autonomic Pharmacology: Adjusting the PS/S System 9) Spinal Cord Injury 10) Wrap-Up: Embodied Emotion 11) The Brain and the Spinal Cord 12) Brain Tumors

Session 4

Other Topics

In this session we will learn: Neuroanatomy Neuroanatomy tells us how the nervous system is organized. Understanding the form of the brain is essential to understanding its function. By comparing the structure of the brain with a patient's symptoms, neurologists are able to identify the location of certain disorders. Studying how the human brain develops provides insight to why it is organized as it is. 1) Introduction to Neuroanatomy 2) Neural Tube Formation 3) Neural Tube Defects 4) Brain Vesicles 5) Expansion of the Cerebral Cortex 6) Two Forebrain Tracts 7) Cerebral Palsy 8) Nerves 9) CNS Regional Functions 10) Hemisphere Functions 11) Aphasia 12) Language Circuits 13) Making a Flat Schematic of the Brain 14) Oxygen and Cerebral Blood Flow 15) Blood Supply 16) Strokes and Tumors 17) Spinal Cord 18) Inside the Cranium 19) Telencephalon 20) Cortex 21) Cerebellum 22) Visual Pathway 23) Pituitary Tumors 24) Blood Supply 25) Hippocampus & Alzheimer's Disease
