In this course, we’ll cover essential grammar and punctuation rules to help you write more clearly and confidently. Each session will focus on a specific group of grammar topics, including sentence structure, parts of speech, punctuation marks, and common grammar mistakes. Learners will participate by discussing examples and correcting sentences together.

hi! i'm tamira, a high schooler in pennsylvania who plays volleyball and rows on my school's team. balancing practice, school, and studying for the sat can get pretty hectic, but i'm currently working on improving my sat score and staying consistent. i'm hoping to keep playing volleyball and rowing when i go to college, so i'm trying to stay focused both in sports and in the classroom! i'm here to get help when i need it and keep making progress without stressing out :)

In this session, we’ll cover the foundation of all writing: sentence structure. We’ll go over what makes a sentence complete, how to recognize fragments and run-ons, and the differences between simple, compound, and complex sentences. Learners will read and revise example sentences and write their own.

In this session, you will learn how to make sure all parts of a sentence agree with each other in number, person, and tense. We’ll cover subject–verb agreement, including tricky cases where the subject is separated from the verb or disguised in a prepositional phrase. You’ll also practice pronoun–antecedent agreement so your pronouns clearly match the nouns they replace. We’ll work on verb tense consistency to keep actions in the right time frame.

In this session, you will learn how to place descriptive words and phrases exactly where they belong so sentences are clear and logical. We’ll cover modifier placement, making sure descriptions sit next to the nouns they describe to avoid confusion. You’ll practice choosing between adjectives and adverbs so that you use the correct form for what you’re describing. We’ll focus on parallel structure so lists, comparisons, and paired ideas match in grammatical form. Finally, we’ll work on avoiding faulty comparisons, making sure you compare “apples to apples” in every sentence.
