About
This series is a great way to get a head start on AP Biology by starting right at Unit 1 (Chemistry of Life) and building up from there with clear explanations. It’s open to everyone—even if it’s your very first time learning biology—and a friendly space to ask questions about any background topics. All you need is a notebook, a pencil, and yourself! Plus, you’ll get access to free resources and helpful tips to keep you on track. 🌿🧪

AP Biology
Fri 1:00 AM - 1:50 AM UTCJul 25, 1:00 AM - 1:50 AM UTC
Welcome to the first session! We’ll start by getting to know each other and then dive into Unit 1.1 — covering the basics of the chemistry of life like atoms, elements, and molecules. It’s a great way to build a solid foundation for the rest of AP Biology. Bring your questions and a notebook!

AP Biology
Mon 12:00 AM - 12:50 AM UTCJul 28, 12:00 AM - 12:50 AM UTC
In this session, we’ll explore Unit 1.1 and learn why water is so important for life. We’ll cover water’s unique properties like cohesion, adhesion, and its role as a solvent. Understanding these basics will help you see how life depends on chemistry.

AP Biology
Wed 1:00 AM - 1:50 AM UTCJul 30, 1:00 AM - 1:50 AM UTC
In this session, we'll look at topic 1.2, the essential chemical elements that make life possible—specifically carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur (CHONPS). You'll learn how these elements serve as building blocks for major biological macromolecules like carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids.

AP Biology
Fri 1:00 AM - 1:50 AM UTCAug 1, 1:00 AM - 1:50 AM UTC
In this session we’ll dive into Unit 1.3 and get a feel for the four big macromolecules—carbs, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. You’ll see how cells link monomers into polymers using dehydration synthesis (losing water) and how they break them apart using hydrolysis (adding water). It’s pretty much the chemistry that powers everything from energy storage to DNA and protein function.
