About

Welcome the Book Club! 🥳

We'll be reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio together, discussing kindness, courage, friendship, and what it truly means to "choose kind." Never read the book before? Me too! Whether you're reading it for the first time or returning to it with fresh eyes, this book club is for anyone who wants to have a great time while reading with friends! ^^

Every week we will:
- Read 3-2 chapters of the book.📘
- Share our thoughts and discuss (never be afraid to speak out!)✨
- Play games in the end of the session after we wrap up! 🎮👾

Hi there! :D I’m a rising senior from Turkey, currently gearing up for the SAT 2026. I’m a bookworm, a movie enthusiast, and someone who thrives on staying active through sports.^-^ I’m naturally ambitious (sometimes maybe too ambitious...〒▽〒 ) because I want to explore everything life has to offer — even if I know I can’t do it all at once. That’s why I’m so excited to be part of Schoolhouse, where I can not only sharpen my SAT skills but also learn and grow in so many other ways thanks to the incredible tutors (and learners) here! \(0^◇^0)/

Hey guys! I’m Mattis, a homeschooled 8th grader currently living in Shenzhen, China! I’m really into art (digital and ordinary pen+paper) and I love writing fiction novels (two of them, Ebse Nexus and Bombardment B, are nearly done), which are typically a blend of sci-fi and fantasy. Since I learn mostly through khan academy videos and exercises, I am really thankful to Sal Khan for making this possible. I used to be very active on Khan Academy (before I got muted for some reason) and I decided to come here to help people with R&W on its subworld. I’m a total extrovert and can always be found attending and hosting sessions and answering people’s questions!! Some things I like to brag about on SHW: —Having hosted 300 sessions —Having reached 1000 helpful and super helpful ratings —Having attended 200 sessions —Having won the Historia event on schoolhouse. —Having met Sal Khan. Some fun facts about me: I joined Schoolhouse on August 24, 2024. I became a tutor on October 14, 2024 at 7:10-7:11 pm GMT+8. I reached Bronze Level (500 SP) at 10:49 pm GMT+8, November 8. I became a tutor in Enrichment Subworld on November 12, at 5:14 am. I reached Silver Level (1000 SP) at 8:12 pm GMT+8, November 30 (last day of November yippee) I reached Gold Level (2500 SP) at roughly 11:06 PM GMT+8, Jan 10, 2025 (got a shoutout at 5:24 am). I reached Platinum Level (5000 SP) at 12:07 AM GMT+8, July 3, 2025 (a few days after my birthday). I got my shoutout at 12:43 am. I’m a big fan of Duolingo I have a 1700+ day streak (over 4 years now) and 1.5 million XP. My MBTI Personality Type is ENFP-A, Campaigner. My Hogwarts House is Gryffindor. I know a lot of people really want to be Gryffindor, but I actually prefer Slytherin. My favorite games are: Minecraft, Krunker.io (#1 class: Triggerman), War of Sticks, Gimkit (recently became a huge fan), and Chess (on chess.com). My favorite books: Harry Potter, LOTR, and Percy Jackson. I’m hosting an ongoing session on the latter. My favorite movies are: Inside Out, Incredibles, Star Wars My favorite songs are: Unstoppable, Chandelier, When We Were Young, Hello My favorite colors: Purple, Indigo, Turquoise, Black. I hate orange. As for hobbies, I have a ton of them: Writing fiction, chess, speed typing (avg. speed roughly 80-90 wpm, record 117 wpm), drawing my characters, and reading books. I absolutely adore drawing and try to make at least three a day. Right now I’m learning German, Mandarin Chinese (both on Duolingo), and conlangs, mostly Ebsian, a language I created for my stories. You’re welcome to join anytime, but since we’ll be reading the book together step by step, it’s best not to miss too many sessions so you can stay with the story and enjoy the discussions.

Don’t stress if you miss one—we’ll do a quick recap—but try to come regularly so you don’t miss out! (PS: We can make a time change based on participants later!)
