✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

To make the most of this course and keep up with the pace, I strongly recommend attending both sessions each week. Since we’re covering all of Algebra 1 in just 4 weeks, every class builds on the last. If you can’t attend live, please let me know ahead of time and get the review materials and complete the quiz on your own.

Wed 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM UTCJul 2, 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM UTC

Week 1, Session 1: Introduction to Algebra & Simplifying Expressions

In this session, we’ll explore the basics of algebra: what variables are, how we use them to represent real-world situations, and how to simplify expressions using the order of operations (PEMDAS). Students will learn to combine like terms and evaluate expressions step-by-step. We’ll work through examples together, troubleshoot common mistakes, and build a solid foundation for solving equations in the next session.

Week 1, Session 2: Solving One-Step and Multi-Step Equations

This session dives into solving equations. We'll start with one-step equations and build up to more complex multi-step problems. We'll cover key strategies like combining like terms and using inverse operations, with step-by-step examples. Students will also learn how to check their solutions by substituting values back into the original equation. This session helps lay the groundwork for future success in inequalities and functions.

Week 2, Session 3: Solving and Graphing Inequalities

In this session, we’ll explore inequalities: how to solve them and how to represent their solutions visually on a number line. Students will learn the difference between <, >, ≤, and ≥, and practice solving inequalities just like equations, with special attention to flipping the inequality sign when multiplying or dividing by a negative. By the end, learners will be confident in solving and graphing single-variable inequalities.

Week 2, Session 4: Introduction to Functions and Graphing Linear Equations

This session introduces the concept of functions and how to graph linear equations. Students will learn how to interpret and use function notation like f(x), understand the difference between independent and dependent variables, and identify key components of a linear equation using the slope-intercept form (y = mx + b). By the end, students will be able to graph linear equations and recognize patterns in linear functions.
