Algebra I Masterclass - Complete in 13 Days!

SAT Score Range

13 sessions

About

We will dive straight into Algebra I for 13 days, with the goal of having complete proficiency by the end of the course. Every class, we will start out with a new Khan Academy Unit.

While the Khan Academy Algebra I program will be used as a ‘guideline’, we will also use the Prentice Hall Mathematics Algebra I textbook as a supplement. That way, we can derive extra problems and example as necessary.

The lessons will include professional slides, clear explanations, and most importantly, lots of student input. When necessary, Kahoots and other fun games will be added to help enhance your learning. 👍

The last class will be a final exam. I will have personally created the questions based on YOUR learning. 🌟✨ There will also be a brief Q&A.

Please come with pen and paper to take notes. It will be very beneficial.

Hello! My name is Konner, and I am glad to be your SchoolHouse tutor! I am a rising Freshman in Highschool and I have mastered Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, most of Algebra II, and Trigonometry. I love playing golf and the piano, as well as teaching others mathematics. ✨⛳️🏌️🎹 I always strive to give students the best learning experience. To meet this criteria, each session will be accompanied with professional slideshows, a digital math pencil (the one where I write on the screen), and plenty of exercises.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance is very flexible, but I suggest not missing classes as you may fall behind. I also please ask that you notify me if you are going to be missing.

SESSION 1

Solving equations & inequalities

Solving equations & inequalities

Tue 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCAug 12, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

We will start out the lesson by defining equations and moving into solving them. Then, we will move onto inequalities and how to solve them. Key concepts include isolating variables, various inequalities (greater than, less than, greater than or equal to, etc.), as well as properties of inequalities.

SESSION 2

Linear equations & graphs

Linear equations & graphs

Wed 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCAug 13, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

Graphing is a crucial part of linear equations. We will start out by defining what linear equations are, and then move onto the key details of graphing them.

SESSION 3

Forms of linear equations

Forms of linear equations

Wed 11:00 PM - Thu, 12:00 AM UTCAug 13, 11:00 PM - Aug 14, 12:00 AM UTC

There are several types of forms of linear equations, and it's important to know them all. We will delve into the key components of each form and how to use these aspects to easily graph linear equations.

SESSION 4

Systems of equations

Systems of equations

Fri 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCAug 15, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

Systems are like the tortoise and the hare: They meet at a certain point. In this lesson, we will go over what systems are and how to solve them.

SESSION 5

Inequalities (systems & graphs)

Inequalities (systems & graphs)

Sat 1:00 AM - 1:45 AM UTCAug 16, 1:00 AM - 1:45 AM UTC

Back to inequalities! Since we already know how to graph linear equations, this lesson will be slightly shorter because graphing inequalities is not that much more complex. Shading and dotted lines are key components.

SESSION 6

Functions

Functions

Sun 1:00 AM - 1:40 AM UTCAug 17, 1:00 AM - 1:40 AM UTC

You might be wondering: What is a function? Well, we will define what a domain and range are, and how to tell whether a graph is a function.

SESSION 7

Absolute value & piecewise functions

Absolute value & piecewise functions

Mon 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCAug 18, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

Moving on! You have probably learned about absolute value in Pre-Algebra, so we will go straight into graphing them. Piecewise functions will follow (graphing).

SESSION 8

Quadratics: Multiplying & factoring

Quadratics: Multiplying & factoring

Tue 1:00 AM - 2:30 AM UTCAug 19, 1:00 AM - 2:30 AM UTC

FOIL!!! (First, Outer, Inner, Last). This is KEY to multiplying quadratics! In this session, FOIL will be introduced. Following this, we will go over factoring, or the separation of polynomials. Since these are two EXTREMELY important concepts, this session will last 90 minutes.
If time permits, we will go over completing the square.

SESSION 9

Quadratic functions & equations

Quadratic functions & equations

Wed 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCAug 20, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

This topic of quadratic functions and equations will be separated into two sessions (partly because it is such a large lesson). In this particular session, we will learn about parabolas and the core features of them (vertex, zeroes/x-intercepts, etc.)

SESSION 10

Quadratic functions & equations

Quadratic functions & equations

Thu 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCAug 21, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

Now, onto graphing quadratic equations! We will learn about standard form, vertex form, and factored form of quadratics. Since completing the squares will be introduced, vertex form can be introduced.

SESSION 11

Exponents & radicals

Exponents & radicals

Fri 1:00 AM - 1:45 AM UTCAug 22, 1:00 AM - 1:45 AM UTC

Onto exponents and radicals! There are several rules for exponents and radicals, all of which are important to know.

SESSION 12

Exponential growth & decay

Exponential growth & decay

Sat 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCAug 23, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

Ever wonder how interest works? Well, you'll find out in this session about exponential growth and decay!
