About

In this session, I’ll be teaching about mathematical patterns. We’ll explore how to recognize and continue patterns in numbers, shapes, and sequences. I’ll explain different types of patterns like arithmetic (adding), geometric (multiplying), and even simple growing or repeating patterns.

By the end of the session, learners will be able to:

Identify and describe patterns in number sequences

Predict what comes next in a pattern

Create their own patterns using numbers or shapes

Understand how patterns help us in problem solving

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please join on time and stay for the full session. Let me know in advance if you’ll miss a session. More than 2 unexcused absences or no participation may lead to removal from the series. Active engagement in chat or whiteboard is expected to keep sessions fun and fair for everyone.

SESSION 1

Patterns

Patterns

Fri 3:00 PM - 4:10 PM UTCJun 20, 3:00 PM - 4:10 PM UTC

What do you plan to cover?

In the second session, we’ll focus on Repeating Patterns. Learners will explore how patterns repeat using shapes, colors, and numbers. We'll:

Identify simple repeating patterns

Learn how to describe the pattern rule (e.g. ABAB, ABCABC)

Practice predicting what comes next in a pattern

Try creating our own repeating patterns using fun visuals or number sequences

By the end, learners should be confident in spotting and continuing basic repeating patterns.

Patterns

Sat 3:00 PM - 4:10 PM UTCJun 21, 3:00 PM - 4:10 PM UTC

In our first session of the Math Patterns Series, I plan to cover an Introduction to Patterns. We’ll talk about:

What patterns are in math

Where we see patterns in real life

The difference between repeating and growing patterns

How to find and continue simple patterns using numbers and shapes

This session will help learners build a strong foundation before we move on to more complex patterns in the next sessions.

SESSION 3

Patterns

Sat 1:45 PM - 2:55 PM UTCJun 28, 1:45 PM - 2:55 PM UTC

In the third session, we’ll dive into Growing Patterns. These are patterns where the numbers or shapes increase or change in a regular way. Learners will:

Understand what makes a pattern "grow"

Identify the rule behind a growing pattern (e.g. +2, +3, ×2)

Predict the next items in number and shape patterns

Create their own growing patterns and explain the rule behind them

This session will help learners get better at spotting patterns that change over time — a key math skill!

Sat 3:00 PM - 4:10 PM UTCJul 5, 3:00 PM - 4:10 PM UTC

What do you plan to cover?

In the fourth session, we’ll review everything we’ve learned so far in the Patterns Series. This includes:

Repeating patterns

Growing patterns

Number sequences

We’ll do a fun mini quiz and interactive activities to help learners check their understanding. This session will focus on practicing what we've learned — not just watching, but really trying it out!

Patterns

Sun 2:00 PM - 3:10 PM UTCJul 13, 2:00 PM - 3:10 PM UTC

In our final session, we’ll focus on solving real-life and word problems using patterns. Learners will:

Apply their knowledge of repeating, growing, and number patterns

Work through word problems that involve patterns in everyday situations (like money, schedules, shapes, etc.)

Learn how to spot the pattern rule hidden in the question

Practice breaking down problems step-by-step to find the answer
