About

If you are taking AP or normal precalc next year or over the summer right now, this is the course for you.

Through this series, we will cover the entire AP Precalculus curriculum--units 1-3. This will be fast-paced, but there will be plenty of time through the series and individual sessions to ask questions. I believe that one of the best ways to learn math is to do it, so I will assign practice problems at the end of each session along with resources where you can go and get additional help.
The format of this series:
There will be two mandatory sessions each week (normally Tuesday and Thursday) that will introduce the content. These will have some practice problems built in, but it will be mostly content-focused. I will then assign additional practice problems that are optional but are highly encouraged. You can chose to do however many you want: if you really understand the concept, you can do less, if you think you need more help, you can do more. Then, there will be 1-2 additional sessions each week that will focus on either doing group practice problems or help people on a more individual level(check the session description).

I can't wait to embark on this precalculus journey with you!

Hi! I am a rising junior in the IB DP programme who is interested in computer science. Right now, I'm tutoring Spanish, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Biology, and Precalc. In my free time, I like learning Spanish, juggling, and cooking.

Schedule

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

There will be two mandatory sessions a week. Please let me know if you are going to miss either of them. Additionally, there will be 1-2 optional sessions each week that will go over more practice problems or individual help on a specific topic. These are completely optional. If you come to no sessions (mandatory or optional) over a two week period without prior communication, you will be removed from the series.

Algebra 2 Review!
This is an optional session where we will review Algebra 2 concepts that you need to be successful in Precalc. This session is perfect for you if you aren't completely confident with Algebra 2 material yet and are going into precalc next year.
Please note that this will not be an extensive Algebra 2 course, it will just be what you really need to know for precalc.

In this session, I'll introduce the series and we'll start with a fun ice-breaker. Then, we'll explore changes in tandem and rates of change. That may sound scary, but it is basically looking at the range and domain of a function, finding it's concavity(is it smiling or frowning, you can find more here https://www.math.net/concavity), and finding and interpreting slope. If you're not sure what some of those words mean (except concavity, that's a new topic), I'd recommend coming to my Algebra 2 review session on Tuesday morning.
