Hi, I'm a high school junior from Japan. I currently tutor SAT Math and TOEFL Reading. I'm excited to get more involved with the Schoolhouse community and tutor more often!

My name is Derek, and I'm a high school sophomore from Pennsylvania! I am a prospective pre-med student with a 4.5 GPA and experience in rigorous Honors and AP courses. I genuinely enjoy helping my peers reach their ultimate success in their academic endeavors. My mission on Schoolhouse is to build personal relationships with students who have a passion for learning, to educate all students using engaging learning tools, and to create a learning environment that students from diverse backgrounds can be comfortable in. I am a Coach for the SAT Prep Subworld and a Dialogue Club President! In these leadership roles, you can find me mentoring and inspiring peers to become amazing tutors and learners for our community. I know how stressful the SAT can be—but with the right strategies, practice, and support, it’s totally possible for students to reach their goals goals. Whether they're aiming for a perfect score or just trying to boost their confidence, I’ll help students break down each section of the SAT into easy-to-understand steps with test-taking tips, time-management strategies, and the overall mindset for SAT mastery. I work with all students from non-native English speakers looking to understand simple grammar rules to extremely motivated students looking for a 1500+.
