About

Transformation of functions can be tricky, but—trust me—it will make sense. Join this session if you want to solidify or begin learning about this topic (translation, reflection, and dilation) so that you can understand why a function changes like that rather than memorize how it works. Then, we will apply it to complicated functions, like the logarithm function.

Explanations with examples, practice questions, and a fun quiz at the end: it will be efficient, boosting your math skills! There's no need to turn your camera on or speak (though it's encouraged), just your mind, working tool, and the chat function ready! I hope to see you there 🚀🔥

I'm a junior in high school who loves math (AIME-qualified), chemistry, and physics! Over the past year, I have been an in-person math tutor for 9th graders, and tutoring has become something I thoroughly enjoy. When I'm not at school or tutoring, I'm most likely hanging out with friends or studying math. I hope to reach more learners through this platform!

SESSION 1

Transformations of functions

Transformations of functions

Sat 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCMar 29, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

When functions shift, how does that change the function's equation? What about when they reflect over a line? We will be delving into the shifts of functions (translation), reflections, and symmetry of functions! I will introduce these topics and help you through example questions, culminating in a fun Kahoot quiz 😎

SESSION 2

Transformations of functions

Transformations of functions

Sun 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTCMar 30, 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM UTC

We will cover dilations (scaling of functions) and then apply all of the translation, reflection, and dilation transformations in practice problems when they appear together to transform a function! Expect a gradual increase in difficulty throughout the session, with support, and—of course—a fun finish with an all-encompassing Kahoot quiz.

BRIEF REVIEW: MORE ADVANCED PROBLEMS 🔥
To check that you have understood and mastered the transformation of functions, this short session will allow you to practice your skills and build confidence in this topic with more challenging problems. *Before joining this session, you should have already learned translation, reflection, and dilation.
