About

Ever want to read greek tragedy but didn't know where to start? Look no further!

Come discuss and critically engage with a famous trilogy of greek tragedies! Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone (Sophocles) are all fabulous and hold as much power today as they did back in Ancient Greece. What will we be doing?
  • Dramatic reading
  • Respond through writing
  • Share our thoughts and ideas
  • Respectfully discuss meaning and interpretations
  • Examine the structure of greek tragedy
  • See the history and evolution of greek plays
  • Compare adaptations from modern culture to the original text
Everyone will get a chance to share their writing and support their interpretations, as well as connect with the texts and with their peers.
For our final set of lessons, we will collaborate to make our own one act tragedy. Each writer will be accountable for one scene and one choral poem. Due to the small group and tight knit nature of this series, please try to attend as many sessions as you can.
