About

Level: Intermediate High through Advanced High according to ACTFL (see: https://www.actfl.org/resources/actfl-proficiency-guidelines-2012/english/writing) Mission: Allowing composition (writing) to hold prominence in modern culture by presenting it as an art form that can enhance one's perspective of themselves, their local community, and the world at large. About: A "safe" place for individuals to explore their writing talent in various styles of prose and poetry. This is a group that provides constructive feedback on their peers' writing and encourages further composition development as well as self-discovery. This series will include meetups for all styles from writing an article to a diary, academic writing, and even storytelling! Hope to see you in the group!

Tutor Qualifications

Entirely irrelevant, however, I have written a little blurb as it is a required field when I wanted to edit session times.

📑

Writing is a crucial skill to have, regardless of what your career and academic path looks like. I have helped learners expand their skills from stringing a couple sentences together at best to creating purposeful paragraphs, essays, and stories; I’ve been teaching writing of all levels from pre-kindergarten to AP (entry-college level) for 2 years. Some feedback I've received after teaching writing: "This was really great and she provided great feedback towards work!"

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

𝗨𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: If you miss two meetup sessions without at least 8-hour notice, you will be removed from the series.

𝗘𝘅𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: If you notify me of your absence at least 8 hours in advance, it will be excused.

𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲: Because this group promotes a collaborative and friendly atmosphere for writing, it is imperative that you make as many meetups as possible to support your fellow writers as they are attending meetups to support you! If you are going on vacation, have a scheduling conflict, etc. make sure you give advance notice, thanks!

Do note: you will be withdrawn from the workshop if your writing does not fall in the levels listed at the top of the description by the first two sessions. This is to ensure the best environment for everyone.

About the Tutor

I am a dual enrollment high school student in the US who loves to teach and help others build confidence through learning. That is of course when I'm not dancing, figure skating, teaching, or practicing yoga! I have been tutoring K-8 students in all core academic classes for 3 years in both group and 1-on-1 settings. I have also expanded to tutoring high school and AP level courses for about 2 years now. Tutoring allows me to inspire learners to grow in their academic environment, and as a whole person, which is by far, an unmatched feeling. I teach by exploring concepts in an interactive and light atmosphere. I will then work with students to practice in-context and real-world problems both during sessions and asynchronously. From there, I will measure each student's progress individually, using various checkpoints to determine the best route. Schedule a session for a fun time learning, connecting, having fun, and talking about your interests! :)
