About

Hi! My name is Melia, and I'm hosting a series focused specifically on the SAT Reading & Writing section! I've tutored multiple subjects in the past, but I'm super excited to tutor a broader range of students!

When it comes to how I tend to teach, I love practice problems, breaking things down into manageable chunks of information, and working together as a group. It's my goal during each session to have you guys talking as much as possible! I will gear each session based on previous sessions and ask for your feedback, to make this as engaging and fun as possible.

This four-week tutoring series will help you prepare for your upcoming SAT in both Reading and Writing & Language. By the end of the series, you will have completed multiple practice tests and worked through a number of problems from previous SATs, helping you build confidence for your upcoming exam. You’ll spend each session with me and a small group of other learners who are also working towards taking the SAT. Since it’s a small group, you can expect sessions to be very interactive as you work together towards improving your SAT skills as much as you can! Note: Cameras should be on so we can all get to know each other! If you have a specific reason why you can’t have your camera on, please notify me ahead of time.

Hi! My name is Melia, and I am currently in my second year at university! Some of my hobbies include art, music, crochet, and spending time with friends/family/pets! I like to incorporate humor, practice examples, and your input into my tutoring sessions. I know preparing for the SAT can be quite daunting, overwhelming, and stressful, but I'm here to support you in any way that I can. I look forward to working with and getting to know each of you.

Practice and review official full-length SAT® practice tests, including one Bluebook test.

Get personalized support with the most challenging questions and concepts.

Please do not miss more than one session over the four weeks, as that will negatively affect your learning and may also take up a spot from another learner who could have attended every session.

We’ll start with a quick meet and greet to get to know each other. Then, we will review Standard English Conventions and Grammar in the writing section. Depending on the pace, we'll hopefully have time for a Kahoot! After, we will work through a shortened practice exam and review questions you’d like to go over.

We’ll begin by reviewing Expressions of Ideas on the writing sections. After, we will finish the practice exam from the first session and we will review any questions you have. We will wrap the session up with targeted writing practice.

We’ll start the session by reviewing strategies for a focus passage type (based on the results of the previous practice exams). Afterwards, we will begin the a reading practice exam and review any questions you have.
