𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥: Ultimate Beginner, Limited Beginner, Advanced Beginner 𝐓𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲: Anisha R, Mina S About: (i) providing an opportunity for all interested individuals to communicate beyond [the] language(s) they are already comfortable with, in order to develop a broader perspective on communication; (ii) increasing cultural understanding as it pertains to the target language, Spanish; (iii) enhancing critical thinking skills–synthesis, comparison, and analysis Objectives (Reading & Writing): how to (i) read basic news and magazine articles, (ii) read short stories, (iii) read basic emails, (iv) write informal sentences & notes (v) write formal emails, (vi) write formal responses to questions. Objectives (Listening & Speaking): how to (i) recognize pronunciation patterns, (ii) use context clues and familiar words to develop an understanding of larger concepts, (iii) utilize proper grammar and shortcuts while speaking, (iv) incorporate some appropriate slang terms Tasks & Activities: (i) quizlet [or equivalent] activities for each unit, (ii) digital poster about likes/dislikes, (iii) short song for time words, (iv) short video about the weather, (v) story interpretations, (vi) writing sentences and short paragraphs, (vii) writing an article about current events, (viii) other activities to-be-announced. Tutor Qualifications

Anisha's qualifications: has learned Spanish for three years in school through AP Spanish + taken and scored a 5 on the AP Spanish Language & Culture exam

Mina's qualifications: has been learning Spanish for eight years + has a great deal of experience tutoring Spanish in multiple different levels

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

- Sessions will be held every Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday at 1PM PST/4PM EST and last for one hour, with (non-mandatory although very useful) office hours sessions held at 4PM PST/7PM EST on Sundays.

- This series is intended to develop your Spanish language skills by starting with the basics and adding more concepts as the sessions continue, meaning that missing a session will set your progress back -- similarly, if your timezone means attending classes will be difficult for you this class may be tough, as class time is an important part of the course and self-study cannot fully make up for that loss. As such, our policy is that learners can and will be withdrawn from the series after missing more than 4-5 sessions.

- With that said, we are happy to make accommodations for those aware that they have long-term vacations/etc. if notified in advance.

About the Tutor

Hi there, I'm Anisha! I'm a high school junior from the Bay Area. I have taken math all the way from pre-algebra through precalculus, and I have also taken AP Statistics. I also tutor Spanish levels 1-3, and can assist with computer science (Java and Python) as well. I love teaching and helping people learn, and I'm very excited to be your tutor!
