About

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we will have a 1 and a half hour session from 1:45 pm to 3:15 pm EDT during July. with a 5 minute break half way through. This time will change to 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm EDT during August as some people may start school. Time varies sometimes, so check the session times. There is a google classroom for this series where all materials such as the slideshows that will be posted During these sessions, we will discuss topics such as: - Geometry basics - Transformations - Triangle congruence and similarity theorems - Geometry Proofs - Trigonometry with right and general triangles - Circles and Arcs - Quadrilaterals - Solid geometry - Constructions In each series, I will be explaining the topic for a few minutes (10-20 mins), but I mainly want to focus on practice problems and group discussions. I want you (the learner) to be engaged in the subject by answering questions or explaining concepts to your peers or the class. In other words, I want the class to do most of the talking, not me, so everyone will be better engaged in the subject. I will make slideshows (in the google classroom) to supplement with teaching. The slideshows are useful for catching up if you were absent. I want to implement some self-study practices (such as, you will have to watch khan academy videos and do practice questions to teach yourself or review a lesson) from time to time so you can build skills where you know how to teach yourself and help yourself out with math problems. Self-studying is a useful skill for high school and college classes. At the end, we will have a final exam that will go over what we learned, as to mimic what happens in a real geometry course. For our last session, as a reward, we will all have a game night. We will vote on which game, but it cannot be violent as part of schoolhouse.world's policy. By taking this session, you have the opportunity to complete most of geometry over the summer, which can help you complete geometry more easily and help you finish it faster (Depending on your school's policy). All of which can show to colleges that you are a quick learner and an advanced student. Regardless, this series will not only give you an in-depth understanding of geometry it will also teach you mathematical logic and creativity, as well as great communications skills, which are necessary for any course. If you plan on registering, I will be excited to meet you and I hope that we can gain a lot. See you in the next session!

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Absences and lateness isn't punished, but highly disliked. Remember, this course is for you, so it wouldn't be in your best interest to always miss class.

However, if you are unable to come to class, please review slideshows corresponding to the lesson of the session posted in the series group chat.
