About

Rotational motion is one of the most important aspects of mechanics (which is the most basic topic in physics ). In this course , we will cover all the topics from angular position to rolling motion, while building our strength through problems. Almost half of this course is dedicated to problem solving. Prior knowledge: 1. Introductory physics : knowledge of kinematics , dynamics (forces) , energy and momentum . (I will do a small review) 2. Basic calculus : integration and differentiation The course is based on the classical mechanics course in MIT OCW. The textbook used is university physics that is available for free online in open stax website.

Tutor Qualifications

I took a course in the topic and I have read about this as well

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance is important as each concept builds upon the previous. However, it is not compulsory. You may skip classes if you feel you are already familiar with the content. You can skip problem solving classes but I recommend you to not do so as they help improve your skills.

Session 1

Orientation

I will introduce myself and tell you the roadmap of the course and how we will learn the material. I also wish to get familiar with my learners.

Session 2

Physics

Here I plan to finish any leftover concept from last class and then begin with an introduction to rigid bodies and the various properties and formulas used in rotational kinemtatics. We will also solve a few problems
25

Session 3

Physics

We will wrap rotational kinematics. We will then start rotational dynamics. We will get comfortable with moment of inertia, torque , rotational kinetic energy and a small introduction to angular momentum.

May

Session 4

Review

We will wrap all the discussions regarding the previous topic and then begin solving problems. we will start with basic problems and work up to complex ones.

Session 5

Physics

We will begin angular momentum . We will study the angular momentum of a point particle and that of a rigid body.

Session 6

Physics

We will wrap the all the topic of the previous session. We will then discuss the relationship of torque and angular momentum. We will also discuss precession (in brief).
