What bootcamp details should I know before signing up?

I am too busy to attend this bootcamp. Will there be future bootcamps?
Yes, at this time, we have scheduled as part of this research study. Schoolhouse.world also offers options year-round SAT tutoring prep, which can be found on the website in the “Learn” dropdown in the navigation bar.
Are there differences in curriculum between the various tutors?
, each Math bootcamp will follow the same curriculum and each Reading & Writing bootcamp will follow the same curriculum.
Do I need to be enrolled in a specific SAT to participate in its SAT Bootcamp?
, while the bootcamp is geared towards students taking the respective Fall SATs (e.g., enrolled in the October SAT to take the Bootcamp for the October SAT) we welcome all students who plan on taking the SAT in the future.
What are the Schoolhouse SAT Bootcamps?
The Schoolhouse SAT Bootcamps are a to help learners prepare for SAT Math and SAT Reading & Writing exams. We are currently offering bootcamps to help prepare for the October, November, and December SATs.
Are the bootcamps free? How?
Schoolhouse.world is a non-profit that provides free tutoring across the globe, thanks to its 2000+ volunteer tutors.
What types of bootcamps are there, and how many can I sign up for?
There are two types of bootcamps: Math bootcamps and Reading & Writing bootcamps. Learners are welcome to sign up for both bootcamps or just one of them. Tutors may be invited to one or both of the bootcamps — if invited to both, they can also participate in both bootcamps or just one.
Emails and Account Creation
What if I don't see a follow up email after consent was submitted or requested?
Issue 1: The parent consent form was filled out but the child follow up email has not been received: First, double-check that the email didn't go to spam The email could be getting blocked if a school email address was used The next most common cause is that there was a typo when entering the child's email (see below)
I’ve received multiple SAT bootcamp emails. Which email should I use to sign up?
We are publicizing the SAT bootcamps through multiple channels so there’s no need to worry if you received multiple emails. Feel free to sign up for a bootcamp using any of the emails you received.
What if I don't see a follow up email after signing up for a Schoolhouse account?
Please check your spam folder and make sure you are looking in the inbox of the correct email address.
Who are the tutors? Who are the other bootcamp participants?
The bootcamps are , most of whom are high schoolers themselves and have scored highly on the SAT before. These tutors have been trained to be effective peer tutors. Each bootcamp will have at most 10 learners. These will be the same learners throughout the four weeks. Each bootcamp will consist of learners who are approximately at the same score levels.
How long does the bootcamp last? What is the time commitment per week?
The bootcamps will take place for four weeks before the scheduled SAT (e.g., Sept. 3 to 30 for the October 1st SAT). The sessions will take place twice a week and will take 75 minutes each.
When are the bootcamps scheduled?
What times are the bootcamps offered? There are a variety of time slots available for participants to choose from. Pick the time that works best for you. Is this during school hours? Most times are after school hours on weekdays or other times on weekends. What time zones are Schoolhouse times in? The time zone should match your computer time automatically. If you are not sure (or are traveling), you can double check that you got the time right by r
Will there be homework? Will external resources be required?
There will be no required work outside these live sessions, but it is outside to reinforce what they are learning within the bootcamp. All resources needed for the bootcamps will be free, accessible online, and provided by the tutors and the Schoolhouse platform.
How is the bootcamp delivered?
The bootcamps take place over live Zoom meetings. Cameras should be on so everyone can get to know each other in the bootcamp. If you have a specific reason why you can’t have your camera on (or you don’t have a camera), please notify the tutor ahead of time.
What topics and curriculum does the bootcamp focus on?
There are two types of bootcamps: Math bootcamps and Reading & Writing bootcamps. Each bootcamp will consist of multiple practice tests and working through a number of problems from previous SATs to build confidence for the upcoming exam.
Attendance and Participation
What do I do if I need to miss a day?
Please do your best to attend each SAT bootcamp session. If you absolutely need to miss one day, you should (through the messaging feature on Schoolhouse’s platform) to let them know and see what you should do for make-up. If you are missing a practice exam day, you should find another time to take the practice exam.
What is the attendance policy for SAT bootcamps?
, as that will negatively affect your learning and may also take up a spot from another learner who could have attended every session.
I can no longer attend a bootcamp. What should I do?
If you have created a Schoolhouse account but haven’t signed up for a bootcamp yet, then there is nothing to do. You can continue using other Schoolhouse resources at your convenience, regardless of signing up for any June SAT Bootcamp.
Research Study Details
Can I share these Schoolhouse bootcamps with others?

What were the results from previous SAT Bootcamps?
It was a success! We have had over our last two bootcamps, with retention rates significantly above the rest of the platform. Our research partner is currently analyzing the score data from past bootcamps - we will try our best to share findings with the community at large when we’re able to.
What research tasks will I be asked to do?
In addition to participating in the bootcamp, participants may be asked to complete occasional surveys, short exercises, and participate in focus groups about their feelings toward the SAT tutoring.
Will I be evaluated in this study?
Participation in these bootcamps is voluntary, and you can stop at any time. In this study, you will not be evaluated on your responses to any of the study tasks. Your responses will be confidential and the information provided will be combined with the responses of others in summary reports that do not identify you as an individual.
Is this an official program that will be expanding?
Not yet. The Fall SAT Bootcamps are a research study being done in partnership between Schoolhouse.world and its research partner. It is not yet an official program.
Is there a stipend for this research study?
No. There is no stipend — this is an opportunity to receive free tutoring.
