SPAR A1 - Speech and Debate

This is Pattern A, Round 1, of the event Spontaneous Argumentation (SPAR) ┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅ Please review the guidelines for this event on the main coda document which holds all the information you need to compete (you must fill out the sign-up form): https://rb.gy/eic8y Here is a link to the main series: https://schoolhouse.world/series/6231?celebrate ┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅ This is Schoolhouse’s first ever 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁!!! Within this event participants (both learners and tutors) will have the ability to debate and show off their public speaking skills through events including: 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, and even 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁𝘂. Through this event participants will compete and learn skills that are critical for one’s future. Participants will be separated into rooms in which they will compete in the category selected. Participants will be judged by judges that are trained and skilled in public speaking and in the debate category. ┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅ Asher's Paradigm - Hello there! I'm a sophomore in high school from Vietnam. I’ve been on SHW for a year and involved with Tutor Operations and the Welcoming team. I've been a competitor for over a year now. I’ve competed in Poetry Speaking, Program Oral Interp (POI), Policy and Parliamentary Debate, and more. I will be a tabula rasa, whatever is said but not refuted will go through, sometimes known as tech over truth. To win my vote, I look for clear articulation and signposting, I will be flowing, so dropping and adding arguments—is not very ideal, also, I love off-time road maps :)). I really hope to judge your round, and good luck!! Grace's Paradigm - Hi there! I’m Grace, a high school junior from Indiana. I’m also a peer reviewer and co-lead for the User Support Team. I primarily do Congress, Informative, Impromptu, and Extemporaneous. I've competed in middle and high school. I come from a more traditional style of debate. So I prefer good, substantial arguments over theory debate. If you talk with excessive speed, I will vote against you. To win my vote, I will also look for clear speaking (better evidence > more) and signposting. And I will flow too like Asher. Please don't drop/add arguments. I’m excited to hear the wonderful speeches you will deliver and enjoy our shared love for words together! 🙂
