About

Each day we will explore various writing techniques and strategies. Session time will include short lectures, discussion time, learning workshops, and writing time with optional peer review of your work. At the end of the series participants will have a final, and edited, piece of work in whatever sub-genre of fiction they wish. This work may be used for publication, resumes, sharing with friends and family, and more. See you there! (Writers should preferably have some experience with fiction and writing. This is a advanced workshop, and beginner writers are not advised to attend. If you have any questions about this please private message me.)

Tutor Qualifications

I've been taking advanced creative writing courses for the past 3 years but have been attending intensive writing programs outside of school for over 4 years. I am chief editor of an award winning literary magazine, and I love sharing my enthusiasm for writing and reading with people around the globe. This is my second year on SchoolHouse and my third year tutoring in general!

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please try to attend all the sessions as they all build off of one another! However, I understand that life can be busy so there is no penalty for missing a session. This being said, please let me know of an absence in advance so I can let you know what you missed out on and give you the materials we went over that day.

Hello everyone! 👋 My name is Chloe and I'm excited to be your tutor at Schoolhouse.World. I enjoy teaching Algebra, Geometry, and Writing of all genres! Asides from math and writing I love reading, watching historical dramas, and playing piano. My main goal is to make our sessions be as fun and engaging as possible, all while learning together. Other Topics

Today we will go over our schedule for the series. Expect to answer some 'ice-breakers' about yourself and get to know your fellow writers! This being said, we will almost entirely do workshops and activities related to writing technique and skill. At the end of the session you will decide what sub-genre of fiction you will be writing during this series.

Other Topics

Today writers will meet one-on-one with me to discuss their general plot and plan for their piece of writing. After this, writers will have free time to work on their piece.

For the first 15 minutes of class we will read and analyze popular pieces of short fiction. After this, we will have a group discussion about our own pieces and general progress. Leftover time will be used for work time.

Today we will workshop our pieces. (For those of you who don't know what that is-don't worry! The first 5-8 minutes of the session will be spent discussing what a workshop is.) The remaining time can be spent however writers want...individual work-time, private conference with me, etc...

Today we will have a group celebration of the pieces we have written! Writers will have the opportunity to read aloud their pieces. I will also briefly discuss publication opportunity, how writing can help your resume, and other uses for this piece of writing!
