About
Loosely based on the curriculum of AP US Government and Politics. We'll go through several important concepts in American politics durning each session, including the foundation of our democracy, influential figures, political strategy, and constitutional law. Expect to be engaged and discussing the topics; we will be doing interactive activities as well.
Tutor Qualifications
I've been studying politics for the past three years, but I have never tutored it. There has never been a Schoolhouse series on this topic. This will be a first!

We'll introduce ourselves and talk a little about the class. Then, we will go over the foundations of American democracy. We'll talk about the events, people, and ideologies that led to the creation of the United States, and the consequences that still has today.

In this session, we'll talk about how the framers of the Constitution created a system where the branches of government check and balance one another. Within this, we will go over the powers of the presidency and the legislative process.

In this session, we will discuss the difference between a civil liberty and a civil right. We will talk about the Bill of Rights and how the Supreme Court affects it. We will also discuss the impact of the fourteenth amendment.

In this session, we will talk about American conservatism and American liberalism. We will discuss the demographic factors that impact political choice and ideology. We will also talk about polling, its uses, and its effectiveness.

In this session, we will discuss elections. Topics include gerrymandering, the electoral college, campaign finance, interest groups, third party candidates, and voting laws. All of these have a major impact on the outcome of both congressional and presidential elections.
