Protecting Personal Information at Schoolhouse
Updated over a week ago

One of our priorities at Schoolhouse is to create a safe and secure academic environment for everyone. Disclosing personal information can compromise your safety and privacy, so we ask that you please refrain from sharing it anywhere on the platform.

When determining what information is allowed to be shared on Schoolhouse, consider whether or not this information can be used to identify you outside of Schoolhouse. Here are some types of information that you should not share, since they could be used to reach out to you outside of the platform:

  • Your high school name

  • Your email address

  • Your phone number

  • Your social media accounts

Some other types of information, such as what city you live in, what organizations you’re a part of, your last name, and personal photographs are not obvious personal identifiers but could help identify you in combination with other information. We discourage you from sharing this type of information, as well, but leave it up to you and your parents to determine what you are comfortable with based on the specific context.

What should I do if someone is requesting personal information?

  1. Prioritize your safety by avoiding any sharing of personal details

  2. Let them know that sharing personal information is against Schoolhouse Policy (feel free to redirect them to this article!)

  3. Report the situation to the Safety Team through a Safety Report (this way, we’re able to send them additional resources on why these policies are in place, if relevant)
