Tutor Trees
Why does this matter?
At Schoolhouse, the ethos is not just about tutoring others, but empowering those learners to also become tutors one day. We track all the learners one has tutored who then went on to become tutors, turning other learners into tutors, and so on.
We plant a tree plant trees in real life once a tutor tree reaches a height of 5 “generations” of tutors. Check out Drew's blog post for more information.
Who is included in each tutor lineage?
Each lineage includes learners who attended at least one of a given tutor's sessions, rated it as "Super Helpful", and subsequently became a tutor themselves. As you move up the tree, you see new "generations" of tutors.
Names may be repeated because each unique lineage is shown.
It's possible that Person A will tutor Person B, as well as Person C who later tutors Person B. In that case, both lineages (A > B and A > C > B) are shown.
It's likely that a tutor has tutored many more people than listed on the tree. Keep in mind that the tree only includes learners who attended at least one session, rated it as "Super Helpful", and subsequently became a tutor.
How can I interact with the tree?
You can drag the tree around with your cursor, as well as zoom in and out with your trackpad. You can click on tutors' pictures to go to their profile. Finally, you can click on the brown edges to see which session connects the two given tutors (the earliest session is picked).
Where can I find my tutor tree and network?
Go to your Schoolhouse profile page and scroll down to the "Connections" section. There, you'll find a list of users you follow, users who follow you, your tutor network, and your tutor tree.
Tutor Networks
Tutors are connected if they have tutored the same learner. The more learners that two tutors share, the stronger their connection is. Our tutor network graph, displayed on every tutor's Schoolhouse profile, shows the tutors with whom the tutor has the strongest connections.
