How are score bands assigned?
Learners identify their score band when registering for a Bootcamp and our Bootcamp series are organized into three different score ranges: 400-490, 500-590, and 600-690. By assigning a specific score range to each series, we can ensure that tutors work with a group of learners at a similar learning level and tailor lessons more specifically to them.
These score bands are randomly assigned to tutors based on expected learner demand. We are confident that all tutors can tutor any score band because all tutors have scored 700+ on an SAT section and we provide additional guidance on how to differentiate within the curriculum.
Can I request to have a different score band assigned to me?
We encourage you to tutor the score band you were assigned. However, if you strongly prefer to teach a score range other than the one you were assigned, please reach out to the User Support Team by clicking on the chat icon in the lower right in order to request a change. We will only grant requests prior to learners registering for a Bootcamp (ex: if a learner has already registered for your Bootcamp, we will not change the score band).
