Which activities on the Schoolhouse platform are automatically tracked for volunteer hours?

Volunteer hours will be tracked automatically for the following activities on the Schoolhouse platform:

1. Hosting a session

  • When you host a session, you automatically receive volunteer hours equal to the total duration for which learners were present in your session.

  • This excludes sessions:

    • In the topics: Study Spaces, Community Events and Tutor Learning Circle

    • In the Subworlds: Enrichment, Schoolhouse Moderators, and Schoolhouse Hub.

  • If you host a session where no learners show up, you will not receive volunteer hours. You may, however, manually track 15 minutes of preparation time for sessions with learners registered who do not show up. Please ensure that you submit your slides/other lesson plan while doing so. Note: Time spent waiting for learners should not be logged manually.

2. Completing required trainings

  • When you complete a required tutor training module i.e one that is either assigned to you by a coach or is necessary to host a specific type of session (e.g. SAT, CAW etc), your volunteer hours will automatically be tracked based on the estimated time of completion for each module. This includes the trainings completed during tutor onboarding (Eg: MARS). A list of required training modules can be found here.

3. Peer reviewing a session

  • When you peer review a session, you will automatically receive volunteer hours up to 30 minutes per peer review.

4. Attending an onboarding session

The following onboarding sessions are tracked automatically one-time for the amount of time you are in the session:

  • New Tutor onboarding

  • SAT Onboarding (Hours are reflected on the tracker once you've hosted your first session)

Please click on “Load Recent Activity” to have all your automatically tracked hours reflected on the volunteer tracker
